BLACK BRIDGE / GERMANY

this area with all its bridges and tunnels and rails ,in the hamburg harbour is very fascinating to me. at this time we came back with the ability to enter the hollow parts of the bridge. when i first opened it last summer i first unscrewed the vent on the bottom of the door and there was a incredible smell of fresh paint streming with a wistheling sound out of the hole. the sun must have heaten up the air inside and the fresh paint of the bridge evapored it's chemical gases. i decided not to go in. but as it was colder this time there wasn't such an air pressure inside as the first time, although it still smelled of paint. the whole inside was painted black, just as we like it. and the neonlight gave the surface a beautiful look. the whole construction is basically just one room after another connected with holes to climb trough and a neon light in every chamber. the swich for all of them is right next to the entrance door and it is amazing to wach the row of lights flickering in the tunnel if you swich them on. the tunnel has a slight curve wich makes this lightshow even more intersting.
in the middle of the bridge there is a trapdoor leading to the middle pillar in the middle of the channel from where you can watch the other bridges around, an other car bridge and one for trains,wich are passing in a very low speed (you can see the lights of a passing by train in one picture). it is a amazing view under the bridge at night because of the reflections of the numerous streetlights around.
